Nine Months
The advent season is upon us. Actually, it is well under way. The house is decorated, the cookies are baked and the presents are purchased. We are counting down the days until Christmas, when we celebrate the birth of Christ!
Amidst the hustle and bustle, the joy of the holidays, Alex and I are shaking our heads. In the blink of an eye, it's December. In the blink of an eye, baby Lily is nine months old.
Nine months!
People tell you to savor every moment because it goes by quickly. We are living that reality. In nine months we have witnessed the transformation of a tiny baby who was completely dependent on mom and dad for functioning in the world, to a mobile infant who is developing personality and independence.
Lily is crawling and standing and climbing stairs. She is saying things like da-da and ma-ma and (maybe) hi! She laughs and smiles and greets people warmly. She doesn't sleep as well as her six month self, but we will forgive her for that. We will enjoy this stage, this moment in her life. Soon she won't need mom to rock her to sleep and she will want to have sleepovers with her friends and we can wait for that to happen. We will take the advice that so many people have bestowed and savor our daughter.
